"Mariachi
Cobre"
The
debut CD "Mariachi Cobre" is still thought by many to
be their best. The selection of material is particularly strong,
as is the spectacular singing and instrumental work of one of
the finest mariachi groups in the world. The recording was made
at Starke Lake Studios in Orlando FL as part of a beta test of
the first Otari digital hard-disk recording system and also the
"Soundfield" stereo 250 microphone, and was featured
in an article in Recording Engineer & Producer (R.E.P.) Magazine.
"Mariachi Cobre" was also mixed in Florida by Brian
Keane and Andy DeGanahl. Standouts include "El Galvilan",
"Paloma Negra", "El Balaju", and "Guadalajara"
featuring guest guitarist Gilberto Puente

"Mexican folk music that will leave you exhilarated! 'Mariachi
Cobre' is a whole new generation of this traditional Mexican folk
music and it will leave you exhilarated. The sound is tight and
crisp, with every emotional nuance shining through, from joy and
love to despair. Trumpets, guitars, violins and exceptional vocalists
combine to produce music that is both strong and sensitive. The
pieces on 'Mariachi Cobre' cover a spectrum of traditional Hispanic
music. Most come from Mexican heritage, but there are also selections
from Cuba, Puerto Rico and Spain. This release will truly touch
the hearts of listeners worldwide. Led by brothers Randy and Steve
Carillo, Mariachi Cobre has been a popular group since the late
1960s. Entertaining literally millions of visitors, this ensemble
has been the headline performance group at the Mexican Pavilion
at Walt Disney World's EPCOT Center since it opened in Florida
in 1981.
