"Thanksgiving"

In addition to a day of giving thanks, Thanksgiving is a day on which a number of people from a wide variety of ages and backgrounds get together to have dinner. "Thanksgiving" is an album designed as the perfect musical backdrop for this occasion. The CD is low-key and beautiful, incorporating some of the classic Thanksgiving hymns, Native American music, and atmospheric originals. Standouts include "We Gather Together", Eileen Ivers' beautiful "Bygone Days", Tracy & Thea Silverman's rendition of the Shaker hymn "Simple Gifts", Tim Story's atmospheric "Caranna", John Doan's harp-guitar rendition of "Amazing Grace", and George Winston's classic "Thanksgiving". The CD has been extremely successful, appearing on the Billboard New Age Top 10 charts two years in a row, and was the number one New Age compilation record on Amazon.com a year after its initial release.

Reviews:
Amazon.com:
"Thanksgiving generally is a pleasant and likeable affair. Its features include a charming, gently propulsive take on the traditional piece 'Allelujah' by Celtic harpist Lisa Lynne; a delicate rendering of 'Amazing Grace' by John Doan on a 20-string harp guitar; and a church-ready version of 'We Gather Together' by a trio of Paul McCandless (oboe), Philip Aaberg (piano), and Michael Manring (bass). The album ends with pieces by Will Ackerman and George Winston--and what could be more classic than that?" --Terry Wood
