"Winter Solstice
VI "
The
sixth in the successful "Winter Solstice" series, this
CD continues the tradition of atmospheric music with a wintery
mood. Brian Keane wrote many of the cuts on this CD, as well as
producing the entire compilation. Standouts include "Joyful
Times", "Ursa Major", "Simple Praise",
and "Western Sky". The record was in the Billboard Top
Ten, and continues to sell well every winter.

This compilation is one of my favorites of the Winter Solstice
series. The music is not really oriented towards Christmas Carols,
and I really appreciate that. This one has a wide range of instruments
from harp and solo guitar to the wonderful duet between Keola
Beamer on Hawaiian slack key guitar and George Winston on played,
plucked and bowed piano. Anything by W.G. "Snuffy" Walden is great.
I wonder why he doesn't have his own CD? This is an excellent
selection of music for the winter season without being typecast
to a specific holiday...
